ENERGY AUDITS
Why Do You Need An Energy Audit?
To save money - plain and simple! Hundreds of dollars, perhaps thousands, could possibly be lost every year in the form of leaky windows and doors, inefficient heating and cooling systems as well as a whole host of other problems.
If you've ever considered making any home improvements, then consider an energy audit first. Before committing to any costly and possibly unnecessary improvements, stop guessing and contact us for a comprehensive energy audit of your home.
The Process
Our energy audit process uses high-tech tools and techniques to identify areas of weakness in your home's energy systems that could result in energy leaks. The energy audit typically takes between 3-6 hours depending upon the size and complexity of issues that we face.
We will listen to your concerns and comfort issues. Remember, you are our greatest piece of the puzzle in helping us understand how you actually feel and live in your home!
A tour of the home will follow, during which we scan your home with our Infrared Thermal Imaging Camera to determine insulation presence, voids that cause air leakage, and thermal bypasses. Our interior scan includes windows, doors, insulation and duct system.
Forced air systems can cost serious money to home owners.
We will evaluate all of the mechanical equipment (HVAC) as to size, age, and ductwork quality. While we aren’t HVAC technicians, we can offer sound advice as to improving your system’s performance,
thereby saving you money.
It is then time for the Blower Door test. We use the latest Blower Door - a precise fan system that is used to expose leaks in your home. While several franchise energy companies offer a walk-through energy analysis, we feel that a blower door test is vital to correctly diagnose and prepare a plan of action for energy improvements. We also use a digital manometer to assist us in finding where your home is leaking energy. During this test we will reexamine the home with the Thermal Imaging Camera to note increased air infiltration locations. Most homes have substantially high leaks. The accuracy of these tools allows us to make recommendations that increase the efficiency of your heating and cooling systems - again, saving you money - enhance your indoor air and help our environment.
Once the testing is complete, we will compile the results and findings and present a thorough Plan of Action to get you on your way to energy savings and increased comfort including an estimate of your potential savings*.
We are happy to recommend contractors for energy improvements! We have no affiliation with those we suggest - we just know that they are dedicated professionals, at the leading edge of their trades, and embrace energy efficiency as much as we do!
